False Spirea
Sorbaria sorbifolia - A spreading plant that freely suckers. Leaves open with a red tinge before changing to green. Good for massing, grouping, shrub borders and bank covers. Flowers on new wood. Grows up to 2' per season. Prune heavy in spring to keep root growth under control. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not. Roots are shallow and fibrous.
Zone 3. 3m W x 3m H. Upright, multi-stemmed shape. White flowers in June and July. Follicle fruit on red to green foliage turning an insignificant fall colour. Full sun to part shade. Moist, well drained soil. 3Gallon.
Attracts pollinators. Deer resistant.
