10” Pot

A ponytail stump (Beaucarnea recurvata) is a, slow-growing, drought-tolerant succulent, not a true palm, recognized by its large, bulbous base (caudex) that stores water and a crown of long, thin, trailing leaves. These hardy, non-toxic plants, often used as indoor bonsais, require bright indirect light and infrequent watering, as they thrive on neglect.
Key Care Guidelines:
  • Light: Prefers bright, direct sun but can tolerate bright indirect light. South or west-facing windows are ideal.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly only when 100% of the soil is dry, roughly every 2–3 weeks (or even less in winter).
  • Soil: Requires very fast-draining soil, such as a succulent or cactus mix.
  • Temperature: Thrives in 65–75°F (18–24°C) but can handle higher; avoid temperatures below 50°F.
  • Maintenance: Discolored leaf tips can be trimmed with scissors.
  • Toxicity: Non-toxic to both humans and pets.
The "stump" is often the result of pruning that encourages the plant to branch out, creating a fuller look from the top of the bulbous trunk.
