Plum 'Toka'

Prunus 'Toka' (Toka Plum) - Rich, spicy flavour. Large fruit. A South Dakota Experiment Station introduction, 1911. Needs another Japanese plum to cross-pollinate.

Zone 4. Blooms April to May. Harvest in August. Pollinates with any other Japanese plum type. Clingstone type. Japanese plum type. Large red fruit. Used for fresh eating and jams. Full sun. 12' - 15'. Prune in spring. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not.
