Grass (Reed) 'Karl Foerster'

Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' - Very effective when planted in groups. Plumes fade to rose and then are followed by tan seedheads. Perennial Plant of the Year 2000. Because of its shallow roots and rapid spread, it forms a good sod on wet sites. They grow about 6" annually. Prune in spring. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week whether is rains or not. Plant at least 2 feet from any foundation. Always plant ferns in the spring.

Zone 4. 60cm W x 120cm H. Upright shape. Green foliage with white plumes in June-September. Full sun. Well drained soil. 

Attracts ground nesting bees and butterflies. Deer resistant.
