Grass (Reed) 'Eldorado'
Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Eldorado' - Gold variegated form of Feather Reed Grass. Because of its shallow roots and rapid spread, it forms a good sod on wet sites. They grow about 6" annually. Prune in spring. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week whether is rains or not. Plant at least 2 feet from any foundation. Always plant ferns in the spring.
Zone 4. 60cm W x 120cm H. Upright shape. Green/yellow foliage with tan plumes in July-September. Full sun/part shade. Well drained soil.
Attracts ground nesting bees and butterflies. Deer resistant.
