The Cheryl Frosty White is a highly popular, perennial fall-blooming garden chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium) known for its large, crisp white double flowers. Developed by Syngenta Flowers, this early-to-mid-season cultivar features a uniform, naturally mounding ball-shaped growing habit and exceptional tolerance to high summer heat.
Key Characteristics & Growth Profile
  • Plant Type: Herbaceous dwarf evergreen perennial garden mum.
  • Bloom Details: Masses of decorative, pure white blooms with subtle yellow/ivory centers.
  • Bloom Period: Early fall, typically peaking around mid-September to mid-October.
  • Size Profile: Reaches a mature height of 30–60 cm (12–24 inches) and a spread of 30–60 cm (12–24 inches).
  • Hardiness Zones: Performs best as a perennial in USDA Zones 5 through 9.
  • Foliage: Rich, dark green foliage that provides excellent contrast to the bright white blossoms.
Planting & Care Tips
  • Sunlight: Thrives best in full sun but can tolerate light, partial shade.
  • Soil & Water: Low-maintenance and highly drought-resistant once established; it tolerates dry soils better than many other varieties.
  • Pruning & Maintenance: No manual pinching is required. The Cheryl family is unique because the plants naturally self-pinch, developing a tidy, spherical shape completely on their own.
  • Versatility: Excellent for container gardening (small, medium, or large pots), accent beds, borders, and as cut flowers
