Eucalyptus cinerea Silverdollar
4.5” Pot
Also known as the commonly known as the ‘Silver Dollar Gum’, Eucalyptus cinerea 'Silver Dollar' is a striking evergreen tree or large shrub valued for its rounded, silvery-blue juvenile foliage and white, scented spring blooms. A southeastern Australia native, it is especially popular due its unique leaf colour and texture. Also, a favourite with florists for floral arrangements, the foliage emits a pleasant, menthol-like fragrance when crushed – a trademark characteristic of the eucalyptus species. Reaching heights of between 2-3.6m, 'Silver Dollar' grows relatively quickly and thrives in full sun with well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established, prefers to be grown in a sunny location, and hardy to around -10°C, requiring very little care. Pruning can encourage dense foliage growth and helps maintain a more compact shape, particularly when grown for cut foliage. Overall, Eucalyptus cinerea 'Silver Dollar' is an attractive, low-maintenance addition to gardens, offering year-round interest with its silvery sheen and aromatic presence.
