A wonderful dense groundcover plant for the hard to plant dry shade area. They will take a couple of years to reach a mature size, plants are long-lived and very sturdy. Old leaves should be pruned to the ground in late winter to show the flowers best effect. Drought tolerant once established. 

'Sandy Claws' has a similar leaf shape to 'Spine Tingler' but forms a larger plant with long, lance-shaped leaves and spiny margins. Newly emerging foliage has a dramatic maroon colouring unique to the shade garden. The colour mellows to dark green by summer. The cream-coloured flowers contrast beautifully with the brilliantly coloured foliage
