10” Pot

Croton Petra (Codiaeum variegatum 'Petra') is a vibrant, popular tropical houseplant known for its thick, leathery leaves in fiery shades of red, orange, yellow, and deep green. Thriving in bright, indirect light, it requires high humidity, consistent moisture, and temperatures between 15°C and 27°C, making it a dramatic, colorful focal point.
Key Care Guidelines:
  • Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light or bright, sunny windows. More light = more vibrant colors.
  • Water: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry.
  • Humidity & Temp: Prefers high humidity (40-80%). Enjoys warm temperatures, ideally 21°C–27°C (70°F-80°F).
  • Soil & Fertilizer: Use well-draining potting mix. Fertilize once a month during spring and summer.
  • Location: Avoid moving it frequently, as it is prone to leaf drop when stressed by changing environments.
  • Toxicity: Moderately toxic if ingested, keep away from pets.
Common Issues:
  • Leaf Drop: Often caused by cold drafts, low humidity, or sudden changes in environment.
  • Green Leaves: Indicates too little light.
  • Pests: Can attract spider mites and fungus gnats.
