Maple 'Crimson King'

Acer platanoides 'Crimson King' - Leaves hold their rich purple colour from spring until fall. Their roots are shallow and generally reach way beyond the canopy of the tree. Water deeply to encourage more root depth. They grow 12-24” per year.  Prune in spring. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not. Plant at least 3-4 feet from any foundation.

Zone 4. 11m x 13m. Samara fruit with yellow flowers on rich purple foliage turning deeper purple in the fall. Oval to rounded shape. Full sun. Adaptable soil.

Does not attract pollinators. Deer resistant.
