Chicory Seed Packets - Witloof (Belgian Endive)


Days to Harvest: 95. Also known as Witloof, this heritage variety is excellent in salads, especially in winter and early spring. Forced blanched "chicons" are about 10-15 cm (4-6").

Sowing: Sow in May or June. Colds nights can cause bolting.

Comments: Pull roots in fall, cutting off tops just above the crown. Plant upright in pots of sand or light soil. Leave 1 cm (1/2") of crown exposed. Lightly water, then put pot in dark, frost free location. Ready in about a month.
