Maple 'Autumn Blaze'
Acer x freemanii Autumn Blaze ('Jeffersred') - A drought tolerant maple with an outstanding red fall colour. Their roots are shallow and generally reach way beyond the canopy of the tree. Water deeply to encourage more root depth. They grow less than 12” per year. Prune in spring. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not. Plant at least 3-4 feet from any foundation.
Zone 3. 12m x 15m. Samara fruit. Insignificant flowers on green foliage turning orange-red to deep-red in the fall. Upright, broadly oval shape. Full sun to part shade. Adaptable soil.
Does not attract pollinators. Deer resistant.
