Calathea - Rattlesnake

Talk about a stand-out plant! The Calathea lancifolia, more commonly known as the Rattlesnake Calathea, is a unique plant with its elongated, wavy leaves and medium green tone. As if that is not enough, the darker oval colourations throughout the leaves give it a snakeskin appearance. The eccentric beauty is rounded out with the classic Calathea leaf undersides, which are deep purple.

These plants tend to be lower-growing plants commonly found as ground cover in a jungle. Like prayer plants (maranta), these plants also move their leaves in a praying hands method throughout the day. It is awesome to see their leaves in different positions in the morning and at night!
