Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum 'Summer Snowflake' - A truly beautiful shrub when in bloom, covered in clusters of snowy white flowers held atop the branches in spring; attractive horizontal branching on a compact upright plant, bright red berries and good fall color; a beautiful choice for the shrub garden. Viburnums have a shallow root system of 18" but can go deeper with a regular watering schedule. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 min. They can grow 1 - 2 feet per year. Prune in spring after it's done flowering. Plant 4' away from any foundation. Use Bone Meal when you first plant and don't fertilize for the first two years. Fertilize once a year in spring with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer. Don't plant any deeper than what they are in the pot and don't add any more soil or mulch around the base of the stem.

Zone 6. 2m W x 2m H. Horizontally branched. White flowers in May. Red to black fruit. Green foliage turning dark maroon in the fall. Full sun to part shade. Moist, well drained soil. 3Gallon.

Attracts birds and pollinating insects. Deer resistant.
