Maple 'Amur'
Acer ginnala - A large shrub that has glossy green foliage. The leaves are lobed and spread out throughout the leaves are sprays of small, fragrant yellow colored blooms on the branches. In Fall the leaves become a brilliant scarlet-red. An extremely hardy plant. Great used as a border, hedge, or in dry areas. Their roots are shallow and generally reach way beyond the canopy of the tree. Water deeply to encourage more root depth. They grow less than 12” per year. Prune in spring. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not. Plant at least 3-4 feet from any foundation.
Zone 3. 7m W x 7m H. Rounded shape. Yellow-white flowers in May on green foliage turning scarlet-red in the fall. Red Samara fruit. Full sun. Adaptable soil.
Does not attract pollinators. Deer resistant.
