Tsuga canadensis - This native evergreen makes an excellent hedge, accent and foundation plant. Not tolerant of city conditions. They are typically shallow rooted and wide spreading. Hemlock would be less likely to affect deep water lines than most other species. They have a slow to medium growth rate of up to 24 inches a year. Prune in spring. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not. Plant at least 3-4 feet from any foundation. 

Zone 3. 7m x 22m. Cone shaped fruit with yellow/green flowers. Pyramidal shape with dark green foliage. Full sun to full shade. Moist, well drained, acidic soil.

Does not attract pollinators. Pollinated by wind. Deer resistant.
