Yew 'Dense'
Taxus x Media 'Densiformis' - Dense, shrub-like form with bright green needles. First year growth turns greenish brown in winter. With regard to the root system, yews are classified as deep-rooted plants, but they also form many fine roots in the upper soil area. They put on about a foot of growth per year. Prune in June. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not. Plant at least 3-4 feet from any foundation.
Zone 4b. 2m W x 1.5m H. Red fruit. Insignificant flower on bright green foliage. Compact spreading. Full sun to part shade. Well drained soil. 3Gallon.
Does not attract pollinators. They are pollinated by the wind. Not deer resistant.
