Hippophae rhamnoides - Good for mass planting where both males and females are present to assure berry production. Salt tolerant. Fruit persists throughout the winter. Good for highway planting where salt spray is a problem. Grows a very slow rate and has a shallow root system. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not. Plant at least 3-4 feet from any foundation. 

Zone 3. 6m W x 6m H. Upright, rounded shape. Yellow flowers in April. Orange fruit on silver-green foliage turning grey-green in the fall. Full sun. Poor soil. 3Gallon.

Sea buckthorn primarily relies on wind for pollination. The female flowers capture the pollen carried by the wind from the male plants. Deer resistant.
