Arctostaphylos uva-ursi 'Massachusetts' - Massachusetts Bearberry - Small leaves and strong resistance to leaf spot and leaf gall. The shrub's shallow root system allows it to absorb moisture from the ground even when it is frozen solid. While bearberry is slow to grow in the first year, it will spread rapidly once established to create mats that fill a lot of space. Prune in June. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not. Plant at least 3-4 feet from any foundation. 

Zone 4. 1.2m W x 30cm H. Red berry fruit. Pinkish-white flowers on dark green foliage. Low spreading habit. Full sun to part shade. Sandy, acidic soil. 1Gallon.

Attracts all pollinators. Deer resistant.
