Annual: Days to Harvest: 110. Fruit is edible if picked early. When fully ripe fruit is fibrous and can be used as a sponge. Suitable for growing on a large trellis.
Sowing: Sow seed indoors early May in a soilless mix using a plantable container. Harden off and transplant out after danger of frost has passed. In Zone 6 and up direct sow in a sunny site with rich, well-drained soil after danger of frost has passed.
Comments: For a scrubbing sponge, harvest after shell hardens leaving 2.5cm (1") of vine attached. Cure fruit in a warm dry location with good air circulation.
