Perennial: An unusual plant grown for its unique purple globe-like flowers and coarse spiny leaves. An excellent contrast plant.

Sowing: Start outdoors in mid May. Press seed into soil but do not cover. Keep evenly watered during the 14-28 day germination period. Thin to 60-90 cm (24-36") apart. Seed can be started 8 weeks earlier indoors in fibre pots filled with soil-less medium - keep at 21C (70F). After germination grow on at 10C (50F). Harden off seedlings, then transplant outside after the danger of frost has passed.

Comments: Best in full sun and well-drained soil.
