Trillium Luteum (Yellow Toad)
4” Pot
Zone 3
Partial Shade/Shade
The whole plant usually disappears by late summer. Best in a woodland situation with rich, moist acidic soil. Not always easy to establish . Plants resent being disturbed but division every 5 to 8 years is possible. This is best done in late summer after plants become dormant. When happy these may begin to spread by self-seeding.
These yellow petals stand upright in the midst of three green sepals that can either lay flat or be partially upright like the petals. The upright petals lend it to the folk name “goblet trillium”. The three large leaves are mottled.
