Willow Tree 'Variegated Japanese'
Salix integra 'Hakuro Nishiki' - An interesting tree grafted on a 125cm root stock. New leaves are variegated with white, green and pink. Regular shearing is necessary to maintain variegation. Will grow about 3-4' each year. The root system usually reaches the same depth and width and the upper portion of the bush. Prune in spring. Use Bone Meal when you first plant. Do not fertilize the first year. Fertilize once a year with a balanced granular fertilizer. Do not plant any deeper than it is in the pot. Do not add any soil or mulch around the base of the stem. Water deeply once a week for about 20-30 minutes whether is rains or not.
Zone 4. 2m W x 125-cm stem H. No fruit. Patio tree form. Catkin like flowers on white/green/pink foliage with an insignificant fall colour. Full sun. Adaptable soil.
Attracts pollinators. Deer resistant.
